Te Reo Workshops

Today was our last day with Whaea Wiki and the amazing students from Waverley Park school. We have been very fortunate to have them come in and take Te Reo Workshops on a Friday morning. We have learnt a new Waiata, Games and practised our pronunciation of Maori words. Including our school classroom teams. We look forward to continuing this next year and sharing our knowledge with the rest of the school.
Kawaka students took on the Wero (challenge) of saying the longest name of a hill located close to Porangahau, in the southern Hawkes Bay. They challenged Waverley students and got very close to their fastest time. Mahi Pai Team. You made MBS proud. Try giving it a go :)

We have also been having some great learning with Bee Bot's this week!

Lab in a Box

In Kawaka yesterday the year fours and some year threes were privileged to explore the lab in a box.

Fitted with lab coats and safety glasses saw the students transform into micro biologists!

Learning Tongan

In Kawaka this week we were lucky enough to have a students grandmother come in and teach us about Tongan language and customs.

Rembrance Day

This time last week Kawaka took two minutes at 11:00am to remember those from World War One.

We also made poppies and placed then around the flag that we had put at half mast.

Book Sell

We love reading in Kawaka.
A fantastic way to share our love of books is to have a "Book Sell" sharing time.
We write about our books and share our book reports with enthusiasm, highly recommending to others.

Great work sharing :)
